Awardees

New Generation of Leadership Recognition
Cynthia Cortez (Baldwin Park, CA)
Founder of AGAPE.

Cynthia Cortez started an LGBT ministry in her church St. John Baptist Catholic Church in Baldwin Park, California. Facing struggles and obstacles she never gave up, she continued to pursue her passion and mission. Cynthia has not only been an advocate for LGBT rights within her church and community, but she is also a great leader that is helping establish a New Generation of Leadership.

Cynthia decided to start AGAPE because she saw the LGBT community needed a safe place to share their faith. There is LGBT+ identifying people who want to be religious and develop a relationship with God but have been hurt by the church. Cynthia's goal has been to remind them of God's immense love for them. The only way they can believe that is if the church has a place for them.
